Since the United States American Eagle has been operating a daily direct flight from Miami to Anguilla in 3.5 hours since December 2021. BermudAir adds seasonal direct flights from Boston, Newark and Baltimore. From Canada No direct flights, access via Sint-Maarten with Air Canada, Air Transat or WestJet in winter season, then a 25-minute ferry ride. From’Europe no direct flights either, transit via Sint-Maarten with Air France or Air Caraïbes from Paris (approx. 9 hours), then ferry or private boat.
The dry season runs from December to April temperatures between 25 and 29°C, sea temperature 26-28°C, moderate trade winds. The ideal window recommended by our teams is February-March, The driest months. May and June offer very good value for money, with the climate still favorable. The hurricane season runs from June to November, with a peak from August to October. Some resorts close in September.
No visa required for nationals of French, European, American, Canadian, British, Australian and New Zealand for tourist stays of less than 90 days. Passport required (a French identity card is not sufficient, unlike for Saint-Martin or Saint-Barthélemy), valid for at least 3 months after the planned date of departure. A return or onward ticket is required on arrival.
The official currency is the Eastern Caribbean dollar (XCD), with a fixed parity of around 2.70 XCD to 1 USD. The US dollar is accepted everywhere, and most high-end resorts and restaurants display their prices in USD. Visa and Mastercard are accepted in all luxury establishments. Euros are not accepted, so bring US dollars or use an international card.
The minimum consistent format is 5 nights if you are flying directly from the United States, and 7 nights if you are coming from Canada or Europe (transit via Sint-Maarten mandatory). Our advice for a real immersion : 7 to 10 nights, Often combined with a stopover in Saint-Martin (2 nights) or Saint-Barthélemy (3 to 4 nights). For the high season from late December to early January, book 12 to 18 months in advance, especially for the resorts of Meads Bay and Maundays Bay.
The two islands share the image of luxury and confidentiality, but their identities are distinct. Saint-Barthélemy is French (euro, French art de vivre, tax-free shopping, yacht scene), 21 km², intimate palaces, access by small plane only. Anguilla is British (English, US dollars, left-hand drive), 91 km², more extensive family and honeymoon resorts, direct flights from Miami, 33 public beaches and a strong culinary identity. The two can be combined very well on the same trip, via Saint-Martin.
