Its Morne Trois Pitons park is the first UNESCO natural site in the Eastern Caribbean (1997), and it's the only destination in the world where sperm whales live permanently close to the coast.

No. Dominica is not a classic beach destination. The island is primarily volcanic, and its beaches are predominantly sandy. black sand of volcanic origin on the west coast, and a few light-sand beaches on the northeast coast (Pointe Baptiste, Calibishie, Batibou). Travelers looking for endless white sand will prefer Anguilla, Saint-Barthélemy or Turks & Caicos. Dominica is chosen for its nature, primary forest, volcanoes, hot springs, diving and resident sperm whales: it's an experience destination.
The consistent minimum is 5 nights for a first discovery: UNESCO park, sperm whales, hot springs and a beach. The optimal size for tailor-made agencies is 7 to 10 nights, which covers the volcanic south (Morne Trois Pitons, Boiling Lake, Wotten Waven), the north (Cabrits, Indian River, Portsmouth) and the east coast (Kalinago Territory, confidential beaches). For a combination with Martinique, Guadeloupe or Antigua, allow 10 to 14 nights in total.
