Travel to Dominica

The unspoilt island of nature

Dominica, the nature island of the Caribbean

A small volcanic island of 750 km² between Martinique and Guadeloupe, Dominica is the exact opposite of the postcard Caribbean. Its Morne Trois Pitons park is the first UNESCO natural site in the Eastern Caribbean (1997), and it's the only destination in the world where sperm whales live permanently close to the coast.

Morne Trois Pitons Park, UNESCO World Heritage Site

The first UNESCO natural site in the Eastern Caribbean, this park boasts volcanoes, fumaroles and Boiling Lake, the second-largest thermal lake in the world. Trafalgar Falls, Emerald Pool, Titou Gorge and Middleham Falls complete the experience, accessible by hiking with a local guide.

Resident sperm whales, unique in the world

Dominica is the only destination in the world where sperm whales live permanently close to the coast. More than two hundred individuals have been identified and are present all year round. The country has created the world's first sperm whale reserve on the west coast, with accredited observation trips from November to March.

No. Dominica is not a classic beach destination. The island is primarily volcanic, and its beaches are predominantly sandy. black sand of volcanic origin on the west coast, and a few light-sand beaches on the northeast coast (Pointe Baptiste, Calibishie, Batibou). Travelers looking for endless white sand will prefer Anguilla, Saint-Barthélemy or Turks & Caicos. Dominica is chosen for its nature, primary forest, volcanoes, hot springs, diving and resident sperm whales: it's an experience destination.
